Now, I don't know about you, but I love a list. I love making a list when I have a lot to do, I love making a list when I'm going shopping, I even love a list when it comes to having to make an important decision - pros and cons lists are seriously underrated in my book.
Anyway, now that we are officially in autumn, I figured what better way to celebrate this change of season than with a list, right? So here is goes, the 10 reasons to be happy this autumn...
ONE: Pumpkins.
Pumpkin everything. Pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkins in the supermarkets, pumpkins in people's windows. Basically, pumpkins everywhere. Which leads me onto number 2.....
TWO: Halloween.
Yes! One of the greatest days of the year (aside from St. Patrick's Day, but that's another story and list entirely....) Halloween is a day I have been getting excited about since about July, knowing it's almost time to dress up and play around with fake blood makes me so happy I can't even put it into words.
THREE: Knitwear.
Who doesn't love being able to wear massively chunky cardigans, jumpers and scarves?! Not this girl, I tell you. Nothing makes me more excited to start the day than being able to wrap myself up in knitted goodness and embrace the cold weather.
FOUR: Chilly Mornings
Now, I have a feeling I might be on my own with this one, but I think there's something glorious about the nippy mornings we're having now. Probably because it gives me an excuse to wrap up in all that knitwear....
FIVE: Making Positive Changes
I don't know about you, but instead of making massive resolutions at New Year that I know I won't keep to past the 4th of January, I tend to set myself little goals with the changing seasons. This season I'm trying to eat better (read: so I can eat whatever the hell I want come the holiday season) and get better at saving money so I can afford the things I need want instead of lusting after them on Pinterest and moaning about not having them in my life. Looking at you, Tom Ford everything....
SIX: Shorter Days and Longer Nights
I love the dark, I love that anything that happens is a sort of surprise, I love being able to see the stars at night, so the fact that autumn brings shorter days and a longer period of darkness is something that makes me love this season.
SEVEN: Bonfire Night
Fire works. Warm cider. Gloves. Sparklers. Toffee apples. Enough said really.
EIGHT: Nights In
When it starts to get colder outside, I tend to use it as an excuse to stay home at night and stay warm. Really, I love nights in because it means I don't have to leave my pjs, I can wear slippers, drink hot chocolate and play board games. Come at me, Monopoly marathons, I'm ready for you.
NINE: Baking
Because nothing's better than being able to make a lot of gingerbread cookies and making a start on those pesky Christmas cakes really. Any excuse to be able to pretend to be a domestic goddess like Mary Berry is always a winner.
TEN: Autumn means it's nearly winter!
Yes, I love autumn, but do you know what I love more? Winter. Winter wonderland, the hopes of snow, being able to wear hideous Christmas jumpers and no one being able to say anything because it's seasonal, mulled wine, German markets, snuggling up close with your beloved while walking around... There is nothing better than the joy of winter and I cannot wait!
